MUMBAI, 17 September 2022: Hero MotoCorp, the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the nation, will introduce its first model to the domestic market next month, marking the company’s entry into the electric vehicle sector.
An event under the Vida name is scheduled for October 7; the company stated in a regulatory filing that “a new era in mobility is about to begin.” For the event that will take place in Jaipur, Rajasthan, the two-wheeler industry giant has sent invitations to its dealers, investors, and international distributors.
Industry insiders have verified that Hero will introduce its first electric vehicle at the occasion.
According to sources, the company created the product at its Centre of Innovation and Technology R&D hub in Jaipur and would use its Chittor manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh to launch the product.
The EV debut was originally scheduled for March by Hero MotoCorp but was postponed to July. Due to supply chain problems brought on by the chip scarcity, the business later postponed it till the holiday season.
Swadesh Srivastava, head of emerging mobility business unit, Hero MotoCorp had said in June that “The ongoing geopolitical situation has resulted in enormous supply chain issues and shortage of various components, including semiconductors. Keeping customers as the top-most priority, we, therefore, feel it would be prudent to unveil the first EV product around the upcoming festive period instead of July as earlier announced. We are accordingly gearing up for the launch of Vida — powered by Hero — in the festive season.”
