GERMANY, 21 September 2022: A concept EV SUV based on the ID.4 GTX called the ID. Xtreme off-road was recently unveiled by Volkswagen.
The modular electric drive matrix (MEB) of Volkswagen, according to Silke Bagschik, head of the MEB product line, “has immense technical promise.” “Vehicles are much more than just a mode of transportation for many of our consumers. We are bringing electric mobility from VW to a new performance level with the ID. Xtreme.”
ID.4 Xtreme Concept
A distinctive off-road vehicle with exceptional power and a tough appearance is the project’s end product. A high-performance drive on the rear axle and software modifications in the drive control unit boost the concept car’s system power by 65 kW to 285 kW, or roughly 30 percent, over the ID.4 GTX.
“Volkswagen enthusiasts created the ID. Xtreme for ID. enthusiasts in Locarno. We are really interested to see how the vehicle is received by supporters of electromobility. We’ll make a decision about how to move forward with the initiative based on the community’s feedback,” Bagschik added.
Off-road adventure
According to Volkswagen, the exterior of the VW ID. Xtreme demonstrates that the car is prepared for any off-road adventure.
The concept car has a realistic off-road appearance thanks to raised rally running gear, 18-inch off-road wheels, a reworked crash member with an additional front bumper, and 50 mm-wider wings created using 3D printing.
The entirely enclosed aluminium underbody and the roof carrier with additional LED lights enable the fully electric all-wheel-drive vehicle for excursions off of paved roads as well.
The ID. Xtreme’s driving noise was acoustically created for the concept car in collaboration with Volkswagen Design and is output to the outside through a sound generator in the wheel housing. The concept car’s interior features a lot of Alcantara applications, updated seats, and orange accent pieces.
