CANTON, 10 October 2022: Nissan celebrates producing five million vehicles at its Canton Assembly Plant. This milestone represents Nissan’s nearly two-decade presence in Mississippi and paves the way for electric car production under Nissan Ambition 2030.

Nissan Canton workforce has been building award-winning, high-quality vehicles for close to 20 years. Since the plant’s launch in 2003, which marked the beginning of automotive manufacturing in Mississippi, it has supported the growth of the state’s economy.
Despite having a lengthy history, the team is focused on a change that will result in the introduction of two completely new electric vehicles to the American market.
Production footprint & partners
The facility has developed into a key institution in Mississippi, generating over 25,000 jobs statewide, more than USD 20m for regional nonprofits, and 12,000 volunteer hours to strengthen local communities.
Nissan has almost 15,000 employees, more than 400 parts and supplier partners, 11 parts distribution facilities, and a nationwide production footprint in the United States. More than 13 million engines and over 19 million vehicles have been created by the team together.
