PENNSYLVANIA, 4 June 2023: Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) has been awarded a USD 1m contract by the Office of Naval Research (ONR) to conduct research on the Next Generation Medium Tactical Truck (NG-MTT) for the United States Marine Corps.
As the prime contractor, CTC has partnered with Mack Defense, BAE Systems, and MSI Defense to collaborate on this project. The aim is to explore innovative technologies and designs for the potential replacement of the Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) currently in use by the Marine Corps.
The Marine Corps is seeking a successor to the MTVR, a vital ground transport logistics vehicle known as their “workhorse.” CTC and its partners will conduct technology surveys, evaluate various technologies, perform performance analyses, and deliver conceptual Computer-Aided Design (CAD) models to ONR.
Features of the Next Generation Medium Tactical Truck
The NG-MTT project aims to incorporate advanced technologies and concepts into the new vehicle design. Some anticipated capabilities include:
- Smaller and Lighter Platform: The NG-MTT is expected to have a more compact and lightweight design compared to its predecessor.
- Hybrid Electric Drive: The vehicle will utilize hybrid electric drive technology, which offers increased fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.
- Open Systems Architecture: The NG-MTT will adopt an open systems architecture, allowing for future upgrades and integration of new technologies.
- Other Advancements: CTC plans to explore additional features such as improved energy storage, lightweighting techniques, and enhanced survivability.
Expertise and Resources
CTC brings extensive knowledge and resources to the project. Their experience includes working with hybrid electric vehicles, energy storage solutions, light weighting technologies, and advanced survivability systems. This expertise will greatly contribute to the successful execution of the research.
The USD 1m contract awarded by the ONR to Concurrent Technologies Corporation signifies a significant step toward the development of the Next Generation Medium Tactical Truck for the Marine Corps. Through collaboration with industry-leading subcontractors and the application of advanced technologies, CTC aims to deliver a highly capable, efficient, and adaptable ground vehicle. The project aligns with CTC’s mission to provide advanced technologies that meet the evolving needs of the Department of Defense and drive the future of military platforms.
