OKLAHOMA, 18 July 2023: SK Signet Inc, a global leader in electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, has signed a long-term agreement with Francis Energy, the fourth-largest fast-charging network provider in the U.S.

The partnership aims to support the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Program‘s goal of creating a widespread and reliable charging network across the country. As part of the agreement, SK Signet will supply 1,000 400 kW EV charging dispensers during the initial phase.

Last week, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine revealed the locations for new EV charging stations along Ohio interstates, making it the first state to announce sites as part of the NEVI Program. SK Signet and Francis Energy were recognized as participants in this project, highlighting the partnership’s commitment to providing American-made chargers and achieving a safe, convenient, and affordable charging infrastructure.

Jung Ho Shin, CEO of SK Signet, emphasized the importance of accessible and efficient charging to encourage the adoption of EVs as an environmentally friendly transportation option. The partnership with Francis Energy and the deployment of ultra-fast chargers aim to make EV driving a viable choice for more Americans.

David Jankowsky, Chairman and CEO of Francis Energy, highlighted the significance of SK Signet as a reliable partner in building a convenient, efficient, and affordable fast-charging network across the nation. He praised SK Signet’s ability to adapt quickly to market changes, including the integration of adopted standards like the North American Charging Standard (NACS) into their hardware solutions. Jankowsky expressed excitement about bringing SK Signet’s ultra-fast charging stations to EV drivers in America.

SK Signet’s fast-charging infrastructure is designed for maximum user accessibility, accepting various payment formats and accommodating a wide range of vehicles. The charging stations also offer drivers the option to reserve a charging location through their vehicle or a mobile application.

The partnership announcement follows the recent opening of SK Signet’s EV charging manufacturing facility in Plano, Texas. This facility, the company’s first in the U.S., has the capacity to produce over 10,000 ultra-fast chargers annually when operating at full capacity.

Seung June Oh, President of SK Signet America, expressed pride in the Texas facility’s contribution to the national EV charging network through partnerships with esteemed companies like Francis Energy.

SK Signet, established in South Korea with a US headquarters in McLean, Virginia, was acquired by SK Inc., the SK Group’s strategic investment arm, in April 2021.
