MUMBAI, 16 September 2022: The Tiago EV will be Tata Motors’ upcoming electric vehicle for the Indian market, the firm just announced. The brand-new Tata Tiago EV will now formally launch in India on 28 September 2022, according to the domestic automaker. It will likely be the most cheap electric vehicle available for purchase in the nation when it debuts.
India’s first electric hatchback, the Tata Tiago EV, will be listed below the Tigor EV in the company’s lineup. The Tiago EV is anticipated to share the mechanicals and underpinnings with its electrified sedan brother, even if Tata Motors hasn’t yet provided any specifications or other information on the car. In India, the Tigor EV was introduced last year for the PV market.
Regarding the technical details, the Tigor EV is equipped with Tata’s cutting-edge Ziptron technology, which employs a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor. This engine is said to sprint from 0 to 60 kmph in 5.7 seconds and produce a maximum torque of 170 Nm and 74 horsepower. Additionally, it comes with a 26 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and has an ARAI-certified range of 302 km on a single charge.
It is anticipated that the future generation Tata Tiago EV would have the same powertrain and produce the similar results. It’s also important to note that both the Tigor EV and the Tiago EV received 4-star safety ratings in the Global NCAP crash test. The Tata Tiago EV is anticipated to be the most affordable electric vehicle in India with a price starting at INR 10 lakh, ex-showroom.
