PUNE, 20 September 2022: Mercedes-Benz, India’s largest luxury car manufacturer has begun taking bookings for its ‘Made in India’ luxury electric vehicle model EQS 580 4MATIC.

Made in India first EQS 580 4MATIC rolls out

On September 30, Mercedes-Benz will begin producing its EQS 580 4MATIC flagship luxury saloon. This will be the first luxury EV to be produced at the company’s plant in India.

Bookings Open

Customers can now make a payment of INR 25 Lakh to reserve a Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4MATIC online or in person at their local Mercedes-Benz dealership.

The EQS 580 4MATIC, for which ARAI issued the accreditation on 29 August 2022, would be by far India’s first “Certified Locally Produced Luxury EV” and will have the country’s longest driving range.

Priority deliveries and Specs

Existing Mercedes-Benz customers will receive “priority deliveries” from the company.

A drag coefficient of 0.20 makes the EQS 580 4MATIC the world’s most aerodynamic production vehicle. It takes up 5216 mm of space, has 3210 mm of wheelbase, 1926 mm of width, and stands at 1512 mm tall.

It comes with a large 107.8 kWh battery pack, 385 kW of power, and 885 nm of torque. It can be topped off with up to 300 km of range with a fast charger in just 15 minutes using a 200 kWh Ultra-quick DC charger. It has rear axle steering that can turn up to 10 degrees.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS’s interior features a 56-inch, curved MBUX Hyperscreen that runs from A-pillar to A-pillar. Under a glass cover, three screens are stacked together and appear to become one.
