Tata Motors said late last month that reservations for the EV would open in October. The new Tata Tiago EV can be reserved for INR 21,000, and 2000 units have been set aside by Tata Motors for its current EV customers. Additionally, the Tata Tiago EV’s first 10,000 units are eligible for the introductory pricing. But customer test drives won’t start until December.
Two motor options
Tata Motors offers the Tiago EV in two motor options: a 19.2 kWh motor or a 24 kWh one that supports fast charging. The 19.2 kWh battery pack generates 60 bhp and 110 Nm of torque while offering a 250 km range. The company claims a range of 315 km for the 24 kWh battery pack with 74 bhp and 114 Nm.
The Tata Tiago EV’s battery pack can be charged from 10% to 80% using a DC fast charger in 57 minutes, while charging from 0% to 100% with a 7.2 kW AC charger takes 3 hours and 36 minutes.
Lowest cost with no rivals
With a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, electrically adjustable and foldable OVRMs, cruise control, automatic climate control, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlights, leatherette seats, and more, the Tata Tiago EV is a feature-rich vehicle for the price.
The new Tiago EV is a 4-star rated hatchback by NCAP and includes features like reverse parking sensors, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and seatbelt reminder.
In the Indian market, the Tata Tiago EV doesn’t have a direct counterpart; rather, the Tata Tigor EV, which competes in a different market segment, is its closest rival.
