MUMBAI, 12 October 2022: Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), the top SUV producer in India, and Jio-bp, a fuels and mobility joint venture between bp and Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), is enhancing their current collaboration by having Jio-bp build out reliable charging infrastructure for Mahindra’s planned e-SUV launches.
Jio-bp’s DC fast chargers
Jio-bp will deploy DC fast chargers at the M&M dealership network and workshops nationwide, starting with 16 cities. All parties involved in the EV value chain will profit from the relationship because these chargers are accessible to the general public.
At Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai earlier this month, M&M unveiled the XUV400, a first-of-its-kind all-electric C class SUV. The firm also made quick progress toward electrification by announcing its Born Electric Vision, which includes a variety of top-tier electric SUVs that will be introduced in the nation in the coming years.
With access to vast fast-charging infrastructure, the business is enhancing the introduction of electric vehicles. To achieve this, M&M and Jio-bp have teamed to offer EV users a vast, easily accessible, and practical fast-charging network.
MoU previously signed
M&M signed an MoU last year for exploring EV products and services, along with identifying low-carbon and conventional fuel synergies. Additionally, the MoU covered Jio-evaluation bp’s of charging options for Mahindra vehicles, including electric three- and four-wheelers, quadricycles, and e-SCVs (Small Commercial Vehicles – sub 4 ton).
EV charging network
In order to provide smooth intra-city and inter-city journeys for EV users, the RIL and bp joint venture is actively extending its Jio-bp pulse-branded EV charging network by installing charging facilities at numerous touch points within cities and on important highways.
This cooperation envisions deploying e-mobility solutions across discovery, availability, navigation, and transactions using a cutting-edge digital platform, enabling all EV users to easily utilise the M&M partner charging network.
Together, Jio-bp and M&M will promote the use of electric passenger cars in India and hasten the nation’s transition to net-zero emissions.
