SWITZERLAND, 13 October 2022: The leading full-electric commercial vehicle manufacturer and services provider Volta Trucks and Siemens Smart Infrastructure announced a strategic partnership to provide eMobility charging infrastructure to simplify fleet electrification.
Zero-emission urban transportation
In accordance with the terms of the letter of intent they signed, the companies will work together to deliver turnkey solutions for fleets to make the switch to zero-emission urban transportation through a comprehensive feature set that includes charging, facility upgrades, and energy management options.
The service will be created so that it requires nothing in the way of upfront investment or technological expertise.
The partnership combines Volta Trucks’ distinctive approach to commercial fleet electrification and operational expertise through Truck as a Service with Siemens’ extensive experience in software control systems, facility electrification, charging infrastructure, energy management, building equipment, and third parties’ financing expertise in smart infrastructure projects.
Consequently, Volta Trucks’ customers will benefit from infrastructure for full electrification aligned with their operational needs.
Launched Siemens Xcelerator
Siemens unveiled Siemens Xcelerator in June of this year, a fresh, open digital business platform with a curated selection of IoT-enabled gear and software, a strong partner ecosystem, and a marketplace.
The goal is to provide digital solutions for business and industrial customers while working collaboratively and nimbly with important partners.
Strategic collaboration
The strategic partnership will guide and actively manage customers as they design their journey toward fleet electrification.
Siemens will be in charge of the technical setup of the installations, including the hardware and software needed to run the charging and power distribution infrastructure for fleets of Volta Zeros, the first fully electric, purpose-built 16-ton commercial vehicle designed for safer and more environmentally friendly cities.
The partners will work to continuously optimise the entire operation using Siemens’ performance management platform in order to increase uptime with the least amount of expense.
This optimization strategy takes into account things like fleet duty cycles, charging times, battery life, optimal energy use and costs, and asset management. It will be supported by sophisticated analytical and simulation models.
