FRANCE, 14 October 2022: Automotive Cells Company (ACC) and Siemens have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together in an industry-redefining partnership. The former will use the latter as their preferred supplier of automation, digitalization, and electrification technology. This will enable ACC to scale up its production and increase plant efficiency.
The collaboration is a part of the Siemens Xcelerator open digital business platform, which was introduced in June of this year and promises to accelerate digital transformation through a curated portfolio of IoT-enabled hardware and software and a commitment to solid partnerships.
Through this agreement, ACC will be able to move closer to its intended gigafactories at scale.
IT/OT connectivity collaboration
The partnership between ACC and Siemens goes beyond the typical customer-supplier relationship to include collaboration in the areas of IT/OT connection.
The MoU also includes energy management technologies to build a carbon net zero factory and possible financing alternatives through Siemens Financial Services. It serves as a showcase for Siemens’ breadth and depth of technological superiority.
Portfolio of Siemens Digital Enterprise solutions
Siemens will grant ACC access to its entire Digital Enterprise hardware and software portfolio, which includes everything from product lifecycle management to energy management systems, from production design to product design.
Siemens and ACC intend to start by building thorough digital twins of the production lines and the batteries. The software from Siemens Xcelerator’s Totally Integrated Automation and Teamcenter will enable ACC to more effectively combine design and manufacturing to scale-up production.
Siemens is also expanding its presence in the battery production sector at the same time. The company previously entered into a number of technology agreements with well-known businesses, demonstrating its extensive domain expertise in this dynamic and quickly expanding area.
The ACC gigafactories will expand the range of high-quality and reasonably priced EV batteries available in Europe, hastening the change of the automotive sector.
