BANGALORE, 17 October 2022: The Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a Maharatna company and a Fortune Global 500 company, announced at a recent Bangalore event the launch of electric vehicle fast-charging stations along the Bangalore-Chennai and Bangalore-Mysore-Coorg highways in the southern region of India.
CCS-2 EV charging stations
The CCS-2 protocol-compliant fast chargers are strategically positioned at nine of the company’s gasoline stations, roughly 100 kilometers on either side of the routes.
BPCL intends to install CCS-2 EV charging stations at its petrol pumps at regular intervals along all key national thoroughfares that connect the country’s economic and urban centres. The first phase included the highway linking Chennai and Trichy and Madurai.
With the help of BPCL’s user-friendly payment mobile application HelloBPCL, users will be able to find and charge their EVs in around 30 minutes, giving them a travel range of up to 125 km. The quick charger can be used independently without any manual intervention, but support staff assistance will be offered as needed.
With the announcement of the launch, BPCL hopes to increase its focus on new market segments and, in the medium to long term, transform its 7,000 regular retail outlets into energy stations that offer a variety of fuelling alternatives, including EV charging stations.
The Bharat Petroleum gas stations provide additional conveniences for their customers, including as clean and sanitary restrooms, cash withdrawals, safe and secure parking while recharging, free digital air, 24-hour operations, and much more. A few gas stations additionally have a nitrogen filling station.
Through strategic partnerships with well-known companies like McDonald’s, A2B, Cube Stop, Café Coffee Day, and other local establishments, many of Bharat Petroleum’s highway fuel stations also provide sanitary meals. For the convenience of its consumers, Bharat Petroleum also intends to open a number of its chain of In & Out convenience stores at significant gas stations along motorways.
