SAN FRANCISCO, 24 October 2022: TeraWatt Infrastructure, an electric fleet powering company with the most reliable charging centers on the market, announced that it will build a high-powered charging network along Interstate 10 (I-10) from the Port of Long Beach – Los Angeles, California to El Paso, Texas, for heavy-duty electric trucks.

TeraWatt is facilitating and quickening the switch to zero-emission long-haul freight by investing in the essential charging infrastructure.

I-10 electric corridor

The TeraWatt Charging Centers that make up the I-10 Electric Corridor will be dispersed throughout California, Arizona, and New Mexico.

The TeraWatt Charging Centers will have dozens of direct current (DC) fast chargers, pull-through charging stalls, on-site driver amenities, and reliable operations, including resiliency generation and zero carbon electricity options. They will be specifically designed to serve heavy-duty and medium-duty electric fleets.

Access to these locations will be made available by TeraWatt for both long- and short-distance electric trucking operations.

To accommodate the range of commercially available electric trucks, the TeraWatt Charging Centers are spaced around 150 miles apart. These sites range in size from four to 100 acres, depending on location, and are conveniently situated less than a mile from the closest freeway exit.

Charging centers

Trucking firms now have a dedicated partner to oversee all charging infrastructure-related operations along the I-10 corridor in the form of TeraWatt.

As soon as it becomes financially feasible, TeraWatt will install megawatt charging stations and battery-backed renewable energy sources at its Charging Centers.

In addition to working with utilities and municipal and state governments, TeraWatt intends to take advantage of various grants and incentives to give charging consumers more advantages.

Comment

Neha Palmer, TeraWatt CEO said, “Long-haul trucking electrification represents a significant opportunity to reduce transportation sector emissions, but hinges on the rapid scale up of specialized charging infrastructure.”

“Our real estate and energy infrastructure development platform uniquely positions TeraWatt to solve the ‘charging problem’ for trucking operators, making freight electrification achievable within their operations.”
