MALAYSIA, 31 October 2022: Gamuda Land, the property development arm of Gamuda Berhad, has signed a strategic partnership with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) to establish two Electron Stations for charging electric vehicles at its property development projects in Selangor.
First Electron stations to serve motorists by 2025
Gamuda Cove in the Southern Klang Valley and Gamuda Gardens in the Northern Klang Valley will be the first Electron Stations in Malaysia. The stations will cater to local communities and visitors to Gamuda Cove, a water theme park.
The stations, which are expected to start serving drivers in 2025, will hasten the nation’s EV ecosystem and infrastructure development, advancing both corporations’ sustainable goals.
Future electron stations will be fueled by rooftop solar panels, which will support a greener environment by offsetting electricity from the grid.

All car brands, including hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric vehicles, will be able to use these electric charging stations, which come with both AC and DC fast chargers. The Electron Stations, like normal gas stations, will offer a variety of amenities to customers waiting for their cars to be charged, including food and beverage outlets, convenience stores, and more.
The stations will also enable both businesses to increase their ongoing efforts to meet their Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitments while sustaining corporate expansion.
The historic Gamuda Green Plan, which was unveiled in 2021, intends to clarify the group’s ESG objectives. The quantified plan has a stated goal of reducing direct and indirect business greenhouse gas emissions intensity by 30% in 2025 and by 45% in 2030. It adopts an organised and responsible approach to decarbonization.

“The MoU would pave the way for TNB and Gamuda Land to collaborate towards increasing the usage of electric vehicles in Malaysia and achieve Malaysia’s net zero emissions aspiration by 2050,” said, Datuk Ir. Megat Jalaluddin Megat Hassan, TNB Chief Strategy and Ventures Officer.
Gamuda Land’s Chief Operating Officer, Chu Wai Lune said, “Urban transportation contributes approximately 23% of carbon emissions, so naturally, ensuring our developments are equipped with facilities to support sustainable mode of urban transportation is one of our key focuses in our masterplan design in the pursuit of developing smart and sustainable townships.”
“The electron stations would complement our carbon reduction efforts such as having dedicated tree-lined pathways for cycling and walking and having e-trams in our townships as an alternative mode of transportation for our community,” Lune added.
