LKQ now releases 2022 global sustainability report

CHICAGO, 31 May 2023: LKQ Corporation (Nasdaq: LKQ) has unveiled its 2022 Global Sustainability Report, showcasing achievements in environmental leadership, employee engagement, diversity, safety, and operations.

Dominick Zarcone, President and CEO, emphasized the significance of sustainability to their business and success as the world’s largest vehicle recycler. The report highlights LKQ’s global efforts in promoting sustainability, equity, and progress within the organization.

In 2022, LKQ reached several ESG milestones, including:

Processing 770,000 vehicles and recycling over 97 million pounds of aluminum, nearly 7 million pounds of copper, and more than 123 million pounds of scrap steel.
Making strides towards the goal of achieving net zero Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions worldwide by 2050, along with a 30% emissions reduction relative to revenue compared to the 2021 baseline by 2030. This involves transitioning to lower greenhouse gas or zero-emission vehicles like battery-electric vehicles and investing in renewable energies such as photovoltaic solar panels.
Establishing the LKQ Veterans Network as the company’s first Inclusion Group, empowering their community of employee veterans.
Implementing a Global Supplier Code of Conduct that outlines expectations regarding human rights, labor practices, and environmental standards for all suppliers.
Donating almost USD 3mn through the LKQ Community Foundation to charitable causes in various areas, including health and human services, technical and general education, environment/recycling, and support for first responders, police, fire departments, and the military/veterans.
