USA, 15 June 2023: Sacramento, California, gets a new fast charging hub for electric vehicles (EVs). The hub, located at the Power Inn light rail station, is one of the largest universal fast charging sites in California. It features 10 175kW RT175-S chargers from Tritium, a global leader in direct current (DC) fast chargers for EVs.
Fast charging hub
The charging hub was established in partnership between Sacramento-based GiddyUp Power EV Charging, Sacramento Regional Transit (SacRT), and the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD). GiddyUp financed the purchase and installation of the hub, while SacRT and SMUD provided land and logistical support.
The charging hub will serve both everyday drivers and commercial fleets. Several spots are designed to accommodate large fleet vehicles, such as buses and semi-trucks. SMUD estimates that by 2040, there will be nearly one million EVs in the greater Sacramento region.
The launch of the new charging hub is a significant milestone in Sacramento’s efforts to promote the adoption of EVs. The city has a goal of having 100,000 EVs on the road by 2030. The new charging hub will help to make EVs more convenient and accessible for residents and businesses in Sacramento.
