MUMBAI, 27 July 2023: Ola Electric is gearing up for its event on July 28, where it will launch the much-awaited S1 Air, its most affordable electric scooter in India. The company has released a teaser image of the S1 Air in a vibrant Neon Green colour scheme, generating excitement among prospective buyers.
Purchase Window and Pricing
The purchase window for the S1 Air will be open from July 28 to July 30 for those who have already made bookings. For others interested in buying the scooter, the purchase window will open from July 31. The introductory price of the S1 Air is INR 1.09 lakh (ex-showroom), but after the introductory period, it will be priced at INR 1.19 lakh (ex-showroom). Deliveries for the Ola S1 Air will commence in early August.
S1 Air Joins the Lineup
The Ola S1 Air will be a new addition to the existing lineup, which currently includes the S1 and the S1 Pro. The S1 Air was initially announced in October 2022 and has undergone rigorous testing covering over 5 lakh KMs.
Upgrades and Cost-Effective Features
Originally planned with a 2.7 kW motor, Ola Electric upgraded the S1 Air to a 4.5 kW motor equipped with a hub motor, replacing the belt drive used in the S1 and S1 Pro. This change was made to reduce costs and ensure competitive pricing. The scooter features telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear, replacing the monoshock setup in the S1 and S1 Pro. Additionally, the scooter now comes with drum brakes instead of disc brakes. Ola Electric has also replaced the curved spine of the S1 and S1 Pro with a flat floor and a simpler rear grab rail.
Battery and Riding Modes
The S1 Air will have a 3 kWh battery pack, offering a certified range of 125 km on a single charge. However, Ola Electric has not yet disclosed the charging time. The scooter will come with three riding modes – Eco, Normal, and Sports, with a top speed of 85 kmph.
