OSLO, 21 September 2023: In an exciting development, Hexagon Purus, a global leader in zero-emission mobility and hydrogen infrastructure solutions, has announced its lease agreement for a state-of-the-art vehicle integration facility in Dallas, Texas. This strategic move is set to bolster the company’s position in the burgeoning North American zero-emission heavy-duty trucking industry.

Expanding Capacity and Meeting Demand

Hexagon Purus’ new facility, sprawling over 200,000 square feet, signifies a significant expansion of its vehicle integration capabilities. It is poised to accommodate up to 250 skilled workers, facilitating the fulfillment of recently secured vehicle integration contracts with Hino Motors and a prominent undisclosed North American OEM.

The strategic location of this facility in Dallas will enable Hexagon Purus to efficiently produce and distribute its complete range of battery electric heavy-duty trucks to customers across the United States. This expansion underscores the company’s commitment to driving energy transformation in the transportation sector.

A 10-Year Lease for Swift Production

Hexagon Purus has secured a 10-year lease for the Dallas facility, which is already constructed, ensuring a rapid move-in process and shorter time to production commencement. Serial production of trucks at this facility is slated to kick off in the second half of 2024, with initial battery system volumes produced at Hexagon Purus’ Kelowna, Canada facility. Moreover, the Dallas facility offers flexibility for future expansion, potentially including manufacturing capacity for battery modules and packs, making it eligible for Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) subsidies.

Milestone Achievement

Morten Holum, CEO of Hexagon Purus, expressed his enthusiasm about this development, stating, “We are very happy to announce our plans for a new vehicle integration facility in Dallas. The facility marks yet another important milestone for Hexagon Purus in building a strong position in the North American zero emission heavy-duty trucking space. We continue to experience solid demand for our vehicle integration offering and the new facility will enable us to deliver on recently won customer contracts.”

Strategic Location for Market Demand

Todd Sloan, EVP of Hexagon Purus, highlighted the strategic significance of the Dallas facility, saying, “The new facility is strategically located to serve both the ‘CARB states’ truck demand and obvious applications for low mileage battery electric vehicles like utility trucks and urban truck deliveries. These states and applications will be the main offtake areas for zero-emission trucking in the near- to medium term. The new facility is also located with proximity to key suppliers making it an ideal location for our vehicle integration operations.”

Conclusion

Hexagon Purus’ investment in this cutting-edge vehicle integration facility in Dallas is a testament to the company’s commitment to sustainable, zero-emission transportation solutions. This strategic move positions Hexagon Purus to meet the growing demand for eco-friendly heavy-duty trucks in the North American market while solidifying its reputation as an industry leader.
