China-based electric vehicle maker BYD has planned a US$10bn investment to set up a manufacturing facility in Hyderabad, India, according to a 20 March report by The Philox.
The company has been scouting land in Telangana and may finalise a 500-acre site for the project, the report said.
The proposed plant would produce 600,000 EVs annually by 2032 and include a 20 GWh battery unit, the report noted.
The Telangana government has introduced an EV policy offering full exemptions from road tax and registration fees until 31 December 2026 to support the sector.
