MIAMI/USA 19 October 2022: A leading owner and operator of electric vehicle (EV) charging equipment and services, Blink Charging Co, announced after a roundtable discussion with U.S. Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh that it will create new jobs and increase charger production capacity to meet growing market demand by building a new manufacturing facility in the United States.
Manufacturing facility for EV chargers
Blink has started looking for a cutting-edge manufacturing facility in the US that will offer up to 200,000 square feet of space with room for future expansion and result in the creation of 300 highly trained positions for engineers and manufacturing staff to Blink’s current workforce.
The brand-new factory will produce DCFC and Level 2 chargers using the most recent technologies. The factory will initially be able to produce 10,000 DCFC and between 20,000 and 40,000 Level 2 (AC) chargers.
Blink has hired Cushman & Wakefield, a leading provider of commercial real estate services, to help with its search and has limited the states in which it is looking to establish a presence in the United States to Florida, Texas, Tennessee, and South Carolina.
Blink’s workforce
With offices in Tempe, Arizona, Bowie, Maryland, and Los Angeles, California, Blink has over 300 employees working for it in the United States. The company is based in Miami Beach, Florida. Blink has operations abroad in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Greece, Belgium, and India with almost 600 employees worldwide. Along with its own employees, Blink collaborates with a wide range of vendors and contractors, sustaining an additional 700 jobs across the country, according to estimates. Blink’s dedication to American manufacturing is strengthened by the creation of new employment at the new facility, which will eventually bring the total number of the company’s workers working here to close to 600.
Blink’s commitment
The Biden Administration’s dedication to the EV industry matches Blink’s commitment to American manufacturing. The Biden Administration has put America on the path to achieving the President’s goal of strategically placing 500,000 chargers on the country’s roadways to enable a smooth transition to electric vehicles through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). These landmark pieces of legislation will hasten the electrification of transportation while generating high-paying jobs for Americans and assisting in the overall economic reduction of emissions.
