AUSTRALIA, 1 November 2022: Australian manufacturer Ampol and Chinese automaker BYD Automotive announce a partnership to promote electric vehicle adoption.
Ampol charger assistance
The organisations will develop integrated offers for new EV owners as part of the new partnership to guarantee the availability of convenient charging options both at home and while driving.
Under the partnership, Ampol will partner to deliver BYD customers:
- AmpCharge home charging solutions.
- Business charging solutions for fleet customers of BYD vehicles.
- Subscription packages and charging offers, including bundles for public and private charging.
Prior obligations
Ampol has made a preliminary commitment to provide 360 charging bays and AmpCharge EV rapid charging infrastructure at close to 140 locations. As part of an agreement with the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), which receives partial funding support from the Australian Government, this includes a commitment to 120 sites nationwide by December 2023.
Additionally, Ampol recently announced that it would install 110 fast charging bays at 19 brand-new AmpCharge locations across Greater Sydney and rural NSW. The NSW Government is happy to have co-funded over USD 9m of this infrastructure. These 19 locations will have at least four charging bays, and several will have up to 10, serving as hubs for EV vehicles.
As Ampol continues to roll out AmpCharge, a second agreement with a car manufacturer, BYD Automotive, has been announced.
Comments
“Ampol was excited to partner with a global leader in electric vehicle manufacturing as rollout of AmpCharge continues,” said Matthew Halliday, Ampol CEO and Managing Director.
“The ongoing roll out of AmpCharge is gathering momentum, with an initial commitment to roll out new fast charging infrastructure to almost 140 locations, including both forecourt and at-destination charging sites. We are also developing our plans for a home and business charging offer,” Halliday added.
Luke Todd, EVDirect.com CEO and Managing Director said “Ampol is Australia’s leader in transport fuels and has embarked on a strategy to become the Australian leader in EV charging.” “With the ongoing rollout of AmpCharge across Ampol forecourts and at destinations like shopping centres along with the ability to deliver charging in the home, BYD customers can feel confident they will be able to charge their EV wherever they need,” Luke said.
